Build in Public 3.0

A More Inclusive Alternative to Build in Public on X

This story is not about rap.

Lil Wayne was the best rapper.

His Carter 4 album was the hottest.

Young Money, his team, was the most famous music group.

Everything was up for Lil Wayne.

What could go wrong?

Enter Young Thug, a.k.a Thugger.

Lil Wayne and Young Thug

Thugger looked up to Wayne as an “idol.” He even mimicked his voice, style, and work ethic. Young Thug’s dream was to be part of Young Money.

The work ethic paid off. Thug gained fame quickly. And he even started developing his own voice and style.

The youth fell in love with Young Thug.

Lil Wayne probably felt a tinge of jealousy and was faced with two options:

  1. Embrace the new wave

  2. Stifle the new wave

With option 1, Lil Wayne could have learned the new sauce and mixed it with his legendary talent. The results would have been unimaginable. The music industry would have probably been bigger today, exploding with creativity.

But Lil Wayne, sadly, chose to resist the new wave. He stifled it. He refused to share his platform and disrespected Young Thug at every chance.

Even though Lil Wayne tried to stifle Young Thug, Thug remained respectful. He didn’t let Wayne’s disrespect tarnish his reverence for him.

Young Thug named his debut studio album “Carter 6” as an homage to Lil Wayne. He chose 6 to signal the beginning of the new wave since Wayne announced that the Carter 5 was his last album.

Thug released Carter 6 (renamed Barter 6 for legal reasons) before Lil Wayne could release a Carter 5.

Barter 6 catapulted Young Thug to stardom.

Young Thug went on to embrace Gunna, Lil Baby, and all the new rising talent.

Why am I telling you this seemingly irrelevant story?

Build in Public was my dream team. Like Young Thug, I wanted to join my idols and contribute my talents.

I was banned from Build in Public because the old guard did not want to embrace the new wave. I offered free feedback (as I still do every Friday), and they couldn’t see I was only trying to contribute.

So I started Build in Public 3.0 #BiP3. We’re the new wave.

I plan to embrace any rising entrepreneurial talent by giving them a platform.

All entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs are welcome in BiP3.

Our purpose is to help each other reach product-market-fit and scale.
