Who Knows Best?
Experts vs Self
Experts might have the answer to “What is the absolute best?” but they never know “What is best for me?”
Here’s an example from my experience building an app this year.
Supabase, a backend-as-a-service platform, is revered by expert developers because it’s open-source and has many excellent features. Firebase, the Google alternative, felt like a non-expert choice because it is closed-source and not as widely revered.
I used Firebase and because the dev experts were so convinced that Supabase was more amazing, I started looking into it, and true to the consensus, Supabase was more amazing.
I started learning Supabase with the goal of migrating my data. But then it hit me. I was spending so much time thinking about this migration that I completely lost grasp of what was important to me—building my idea and making it a reality with the skills I have.
So yes, the experts knew which was the best platform. But they did not know which was the best platform for me.
Learn from experts, then detach and optimize for what’s best for you.
P.S Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 🥳 Love you all and can’t wait to show you my new product next year 🩷
